Ready for the secret sauce?

Structure your blog posts as numerical learning guides. There, I said it.

Why?

We’re human. We have minimal attention span online. We love being able to learn by recalling bits and pieces of information that we quickly absorb amidst our hundreds of clicks each day.

So, make it easy for your readers. Make it short. Make it digestable. Make it shareable.

I’ve always been a big fan of HubSpot’s blog and impressed with the readership they attract. Take a quick gander at my Google Reader feed for their blog below. Notice a trend??

It works. Give it a try and let me know how that traffic spikes.

Cheers.

  1. I would argue that it largely depends on what you’re writing about. If I see a top ten list I usually groan and take my Internet attention elsewhere.

  2. Certainly, killer content should always be a given and top priority. Intended for this to be more on post structure.
